Health Spotlight: Dr. Richardson on Chiropractic Care

Q. What advice do you have for someone interested in starting chiropractic care?

A. My advice is to first understand that healing happens in cycles and that there is a level of repetition required in order to rehabilitate the injured tissues of the spine. During your initial chiropractic visit, the first thing our MACT Chiropractic Doctor does is make sure it's safe to work on you. We always start slowly for the first few visits in order to assess your rehab potential.

Q. Who do you recommend get chiropractic adjustments?

A. Everyone with a spine should be getting regular chiropractic adjustments. Anyone who has any kind of unresolved chronic pain or an acute injury, and anyone who has any kind of physical or repetitive type of work would benefit from regular chiropractic adjustments.

Q. What are the benefits of getting regular chiropractic care?

A. The benefits of regular chiropractic care are the prevention of spinal injury and disease by maintaining proper alignment and function. Chiropractic adjustments allow the body's nervous system to work unstressed, which regulates all of the systems of the body.

Welcoming Our New Team Members

A Warm MACT Welcome to Dr. Daniel Cockrell, D.C.

Please join us in welcoming our new Chiropractor, Dr. Daniel Cockrell, who joins us at the Ione Clinic. Dr. Cockrell was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where his interest in health care began with emergency medicine. He moved to Chico where he began college and worked for Paradise Ambulance. During this time he suffered from chronic pain that was resolved by a local chiropractor which led him to passionately desire to help others who suffered as well. After graduating with his D.C. degree in 2009, he moved to Amador County and has since owned two different practices in Sutter Creek and Jackson before coming to the MACT Health Board. He enjoys the local small town environment, hiking, playing music and can be found reading in coffee shops. It has always been his purpose to help make your body a better place to live through chiropractic.

A Warm MACT Welcome to Melissa Windham, Associate Clinical Social Worker

Please join us in welcoming our new Associate Clinical Social Worker, Melissa Windham, who joins us at the Ione Clinic. Melissa has been a proud resident of Ione for almost 2 1/2 years. Her passion for mental health began after discovering that her oldest child had bipolar disorder, inspiring her to pursue a career dedicated to helping others. She began her journey as a psychiatric technician with the California Department of Corrections. Determined to further her education, Melissa earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and then a Master's in Social Work at Stanislaus State University in 2023. She was hired as a Clinical Social Worker at San Joaquin Behavioral Health Services, where she gained invaluable experience working with marginalized and under-served populations. She is now focused on completing the hours required to sit for the LCSW exam. Melissa is excited and honored to join MACT.
