Sponsorships

MACT Health Board, Inc. Sponsorship Opportunities.

MACT Health Board, Inc. is proud to offer several sponsorships and scholarships to support the educational and extracurricular pursuits of Native American students. These opportunities are designed to encourage academic achievement and community involvement.

The MACT Health Board Scholarship is a competitive scholarship for current Native American college students. This scholarship is for students attending a college in California, unless they are from MACT’s service area. While students pursuing careers in the health field are strongly encouraged to apply, careful consideration is also given to those pursuing careers in fields like information technology and finance/accounting.

The award amount is $1500 per academic semester. This funding is renewable each semester for awardees who maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and complete an average of 12 units per semester. Applications are evaluated based on scholastic achievement, school and Indian community involvement, and an essay. The application process requires submitting a completed application, a one-page essay, current transcripts, and a copy of your Tribal ID or a letter from your Tribal Chair. After graduating with an associate’s degree or higher, recipients who met all scholarship requirements are eligible to receive a $100 digital gift card

The Sierra Miwuk Scholarship is for Sierra Miwuk students who are enrolled in a college or vocational school. To be eligible, students must live in or be from Mariposa, Amador, Alpine, Calaveras, or Tuolumne counties. Scholarship amounts are renewable every semester and are determined by the number of credits a student is enrolled in, with a maximum of $5000 awarded per person, per year. Full-time students with 12 or more credits may receive $2500, half-time students with 6-11 credits may receive $1250, and quarter-time students with 3-5 credits may receive $625.

To be eligible for the following semester, a student's GPA must be 2.0 or greater. Students must provide a copy of their final grade report as soon as it is available to avoid disqualification from future eligibility. The program also offers an incentive award; when the final grade report is submitted, the student will be awarded $20 per unit for every grade of “B” or greater. This incentive money is mailed once a year, in June. Scholarship recipients who earn a degree and meet program requirements will also receive a $100 digital gift card

The Youth Sports Sponsorship is an opportunity for Native Youth, 18 years old or younger, who live within the MACT service area. The sponsorship provides up to $800 per child per calendar year. The program is available for youth participating in a sports program or other extracurricular activity, such as public or private school sports, leagues, private sessions, or county fair projects. Examples of covered activities include basketball, football, dance, band, and livestock projects. To apply, a completed application must be submitted to your local NAS Case Manager. Applicants must also attach proof of participation, proof of tribal affiliation, proof of address, and receipts or an itemized list of the estimated costs. A W9 form from the organization or guardian is required to disperse funds.
