August 2025 Newsletter

This August, MACT Health Board celebrates the opening of a new dental lab for quicker services like denture repairs and crowns. We also want to give a warm welcome to our new LMFT, Dayna DeCristoferi, and our new Chiropractor, Dr. John Maltby. This summer, our Native Kids Camp was a huge success, with nearly 60 children enjoying activities like kayaking, learning the Washoe language, and making traditional necklaces. In other news, the Sonora MACT Medical Clinic has moved to a larger, remodeled space at 905 Morningstar Drive. Finally, be sure to join us at the Mariposa County Fair from August 29th to September 1st.

A Note from our Executive Director, John Alexander

Summer is already half-way over. But our kids are having fun AND learning new things. We also have a few new faces at MACT, so please welcome them!

Dental Lab Now Open

We are excited to announce that MACT has opened the new dental lab for all offices to use. We will now have a much quicker turnaround time for our patients! The services we now offer are:

  • DENTURE REPAIRS: Your dentist can send the case to the lab and have it ready in 1 to 3 days. Or you can visit the lab by appointment, and we could repair the appliance in a few hours.

  • DENTURE RELINES: We will now be able to do relines overnight if you visit the lab.

  • ADDITIONAL SERVICES: Full dentures, immediate dentures, crowns and bridges, night guards, temporary crowns, along with resin partials.

We were fortunate enough to hire David Gull as our Lab Manager, who has over 30 years of experience. The MACT board of directors deserve a lot of credit for funding this enterprise. It will significantly help our patients!

Thank you MACT Health Board of Directors!

Summer of Fun at Native Kids Camp!

This summer we had nearly 60 children attend MACT's Native Kids Camp in Tahoma, CA.

During camp, kids learned about the Native Washoe tribe and their language with Kristopher Mandell. They learned how to make traditional pine nut and abalone necklaces with George Gurion. Kids practiced basket weaving with Lauren Walloupe. They got the chance to create watercolor art with Bobby Martin. They also spent a day going to Gatekeepers Museum and the Tallac Historic Site to learn about Native culture.

Other highlights were kayaking on the lake, playing lacrosse and volleyball on the beach, playing Bingo with Sara Ray, hiking, and seeing wildlife. The kids were surrounded by good friends, lots of smiles and laughter. They also had a great time making s'mores.

Overall it was an awesome camp! MACT would like to express our gratitude to the kids, parent volunteers, and MACT team members who were a part of this year's Kids Camp. The friendships and memories created at camp will last a lifetime!

A Warm MACT Welcome to Dr. John Maltby, D.C.

Dr. Maltby was born and raised in a small desert town in Southern California where he grew up hunting, fishing, and swimming to stay cool in the hot summers. As a young adult, he served six years in the United States Air Force, before deciding to follow in his father's footsteps and become a chiropractor. Dr. Maltby obtained his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West in 2014 and spent the last nine years owning and operating his own private practice near Boise, ID. He relocated to Sonora, CA with his wife and children to be closer to family and is excited to become a member of the MACT clinic. Dr. Maltby is passionate about making a difference in his patient's lives through chiropractic care and in his free time he still enjoys hunting, fishing, and swimming to stay cool in the hot summers.

Please join us in welcoming our new Chiropractor, Dr. Maltby, who joins us at the Sonora and Mariposa Chiropractic Clinics. Read a recent article from Dr. Malby here.

Be Proactive With Your Chiropractic Care
with Dr. Richardson, D.C.

You cannot always avoid being reactive in your chiropractic care. However, in general, if you adopt a proactive approach to utilizing chiropractic care, you will find it provides greater benefits, with less overall care needed to achieve the same results. The mistake most people make with their chiropractic care, is that they push off the warning signs of needing an adjustment, and the warning signs become symptoms. When symptoms become pain, the pain can cause severe muscle spasms and the effectiveness of your adjustment goes way down. It then takes more frequent adjustments to address the symptoms.

Don't ignore the warning signs. Muscle stiffness, loss of range of motion, dull aches, knots in the muscle tissue, restless sleep, lack of motivation, and poor body function in general are all signs your body needs a chiropractic adjustment. Take action on them. That is the cue for when you should get in for a chiropractic adjustment. For optimum health, it is important to take care of yourself through regular chiropractic adjustments when you notice the signs, and address them before they become symptoms.
